Apple iPhone 18 Pro to Feature Under-Display Face ID, No More Notch

Apple is reportedly preparing to introduce under-display Face ID technology in its upcoming iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max models, expected to launch in September 2026. According to recent reports, the company has already begun testing this feature on its Pro models.

If successful, this advancement will enable Apple to embed the 3D facial recognition system beneath the display, leaving only a small hole-punch cutout for the front-facing camera. This would eliminate the prominent notch seen in previous iPhone generations, offering a cleaner and more immersive screen design.

While under-display camera technology has already appeared in some Android smartphones, those implementations generally rely on 2D facial recognition using the front camera, which is considered less secure than Apple’s advanced Face ID.
